Kevin Spacey is currently on trial for allegedly trying to force himself on an underage boy back in 1986. The alleged victim, Anthony Rapp, is 40 years old now, and he’s suing Kevin for $40 million.
Kevin took the stand yesterday, and revealed something he’s never spoken about before. He said, “I grew up in a very complicated family dynamic. My father was a white supremacist and neo-Nazi. It meant that my siblings and I were forced to listen to hours and hours of my father lecturing us about his beliefs. [He] used to yell at me at the idea that I might be gay.”
Spacey said he also regrets that he apologized when Rapp first accused him. He said the #MeToo movement was gaining steam at the time, and he was advised not to push back, or he would come off as a “victim shamer.”
He added, “I’ve learned a lesson, which is never apologize for something you didn’t do.”
Spacey got a partial victory yesterday, when the judge threw out Rapp’s claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress. But Spacey is still on trial for sexual assault and battery.
